Experience

Jeff represents clients in a broad range of complex commercial real estate transactions in the Chicago metropolitan area and throughout the country.  He combines his extensive experience in commercial real estate matters with a personable and pragmatic approach to his work in order to solve problems and achieve successful outcomes on behalf of his clients.

His experience includes the acquisition and disposition of individual retail, office, hotel and industrial properties as well as multi-property portfolio transactions.  Jeff regularly represents real estate developers in the acquisition, financing and development of commercial projects, including, multi-family apartments, the development of single family, townhome and condominium communities, mixed-use developments and self-storage facilities. He has considerable experience in commercial lease transactions, 1031 exchanges and negotiating management agreements, construction contracts, and architectural agreements. In addition, Jeff regularly represents clients in real estate finance transactions, including conventional and securities lender, construction loans and loan workouts and debt restructuring.

Jeff routinely assists clients in determining the most advantageous transaction structure, including entity formation and the drafting and negotiation of governing documents, such as limited liability company agreements, partnership agreements and joint venture agreements.

Jeff is committed to assisting building owners, developers and tenants in green building design and occupancy.  He has been accredited by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate.  LEED is a rating system developed by the USGBC that is used to evaluate the impact of buildings and projects on the environment and human health and to promote sustainable building design and operation.

Prior to practicing law, Jeff practiced as a Certified Public Accountant with an emphasis in federal and state taxation.
